Vietnam is not a big country as China but Vietnam also provides rich natural resources and offers great landscape. 

The history of Vietnam is one of the longest histories in the world, including its cultures, traditional and architectures. Citadel of Hanoi or Hoang Thang Long is a part of historic sites in Vietnam. The Citadel of Hanoi is considered as World Heritage site by UNESCO since 2010. The site is built more than a thousand year. Moreover, this ancient site represents the civilizations of Vietnamese in the past. In addition, this heritage site is decorated by marbles.

I am really fascinated by a country which has a long history. My dream became true when I have a change to visit Citadel of Thang Long. The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long-Hanoi was constructed since 1379. I walked around to see the archaeological site. It was expressive. I explored the ancient architectures that has remained. I could imagine, this site must be delicate, luxurious, and lavish before it was damaged by the rivals. Moreover, Thang Long Citadel has played a key roles as a political and cultural center throughout over decades. As a result, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long-Hanoi is recognized as cultural heritage site.

Citadel of Thang Long is only one of the marble palace that has remained in South East Asia. The citadel was well protected and preserved under the central government. Citadel of Thang Long has been constructed and repaired many times, particularly during the succession period between dynasties. For example, many buildings inside the citadel were built by the Nguyen dynasty and French colonists. Thang Long varied a lot in long history, but the forbidden citadel has been unchanged. That is a main reason why this site is awarded by UNESCO. Furthermore, this place provide outstanding landmark to draw attention from people around the world. Moreover, the ancient site has represented Vietnam’s architecture well. The scientists and researchers found a complicated architectural structures. Citadel of Thang Long were built in rectangular and polygonal shapes. Many visitors and I wondered that how they built the complex building in that time.

Citadel of Thang Long: the World Heritage Site

The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long is located at Hanoi city. Thang Long Citadel, a 1,000 –year –old-building in the center of Hanoi. The royal palaces were in varying states of disrepair many times, especially by the late 19th century.

However, some areas are prohibited for researchers. They found archaeological traces and artefacts that provide priceless scientific data and the information of long lost history. As a result, I only visited in the old royal palace zone.  Many local people and tourists are looking forward to see the elegant royal palace again after the big renovation.

After I walked around the royal palace, I stopped at in from of the Citadel for a while to appreciate the ancient cite. I had a wonderful time there. By the way, I was back to Citadel of Thang Long again in the evenings. The officers set the colorful lights to shade the Citadel and royal palaces lively. It is even more spectacular at night which create an utmost beautiful scene, especially in gold color.  I have never be disappointed to visit this World’s heritage site by UNESCO.  I will definitely back to the citadel again.

Citadel of Thang Long is opened daily since 7 AM – 5 PM. The entrance fee is only 20 baht. It is worth to visit with this reasonable price.
