I have an opportunity to explore one of the legendary country in Asia. Melaka is outstanding city both the cultures and landscapes. The ancient landmarks and lavish architectures are the main reasons that Melaka is awarded as the World’s heritage site in 2551.
I start my trip by visiting Melaka tower where is 110 meter tall. In the tower, it is able to seat 60 people at a time. You have to wait around 15 minutes for queuing up. When everyone seat their belt and sit in their proper positions. The tower generally move around to the right direction with the 360 degree views. It slowly climb up to the top. So, you can appreciate the scenery views and the colorful roof‘s houses. Moreover, you can get a good view of the surrounding area such as the sea, the Strait of Melaka and so on. It is worth to visit the tower at the beginning of the tour. It is definitely give you an idea for the next attractions to visit.
Apart from the Melaka tower, one of the best attractions to visit is “A’Famosa”. A Famosa is located at the Saint Paul hill which is the ancient fort. This fort was built by the Portuguese and it is the oldest remaining European architecture that still survive over several decades. We slowly walk to the top of the hill to visit Saint Paul Church. Inside the historic church, we can see the place of Francis' temporary burial. Moreover, the Francis' statue which is located in front of the church has the cut off right hand. It well represents the best known missionary. The church is also surrounded by a wire mesh fence. You can see the spectacular view of the sea before walking down. Moreover,
Melaka trees have also been significantly planted along the way back from Saint Paul hill. In addition, the Melaka tress is national tree of Malaysia.
Despite of the Saint Paul Church, there are various tourist spot to visit, for example, Melaka Maritime Museum. This is the replica museum that exhibit originate of Melaka international business. It enlighten us to back into the Melaka’s past. The Museum displays the collection of old model ships, artefacts and documents from the Melaka sultanate. Additionally, there is a historical reading books which elaborate the Melaka legends. Moreover, this museum also exhibits a small model of Sultan ‘residence (Palace). In addition, the Maritime Museum is currently operated as the cultural museum.
Interestingly, you can walk along the Melaka River to buy some souvenirs at small shops. Another hot spot of this city is Red Square or Dutch square. You can obviously find the fountain and tower clock at the center of this square.
The red square is also the shopping center for souvenirs. In addition, you should ride a three wheel bike which is fully furnished with colorful flowers. Melaka is definitely one of my best destination.
